WE ARE HERE TO SERVE YOU
There are many ways to reach me and to get assistance on municipal issues.
1. First, call 311!
311 is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m, Saturday & Sunday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m
Call 311 for most municipal issues. They will provide you with a reference number at the end of your call. Please write this down and use it to follow up with 311 or with my office.
311's after-hours emergency service includes emergency road maintenance (Like sinkholes, traffic light problems, & street obstructions), plumbing or electrical issues at municipal facilities, animal services like an injured or found dog, or an aggressive animal, and illegally parked vehicles.
The 311 Website is also fast, and effective and your requests are trackable online.
2. Contact my office
Call or email my office if 311 is not satisfactory. Victoria Palmeter is my Constituency Coordinator. Please have your 311 reference number ready to assist Vicki in following up. The Council Support office is open Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm, except holidays.
Vicki can be reached by email at Victoria.palmeter@halifax.ca or by phone at 902-490-2012.
3. Contact me directly
Call me if the issue is a policy or planning matter, or if there is an issue 311 is unable to resolve. If you have called 311, have your reference number ready so I can follow up with the staff.
You can email me at waye.mason@halifax.ca, or my cell phone at 902-430-7822 but I am usually in meetings much of the business day and cannot answer calls and calls typically go to voicemail. Email really is better.
Please do not message me on social media (twitter, facebook, reddit etc) about municipal matters you want action on.
Social is great for some things but I don't check it very often, and when you email me everything comes into one place, both myself and my Coordinator can read the emails and respond, and we can forward your concerns to the appropriate staff for comment, and send those responses back to you.
SIGN UP FOR HFXALERT
Take steps to stay informed and up-to-date about emergencies, specifically, sign up for Halifax Alert. This system can email, text, or call you, or do all three, so you don't need a computer or to use data to access it. Issues from winter parking bans and up are communicated using this system. (Only the biggest emergencies use the Alert Ready phone alert system, which can take longer to get a message out on).

So, about X/twitter - please note while I post my agenda in the morning via Hootsuite, and I use X/twitter during emergencies like hurricanes, I do not check or respond to posts or DMs on the platform. Musk made a bad thing worse.
