Sixth Annual District 7 Participatory Budgeting Vote
Building a great community – one great idea at a time
Each district has a budget of $94,000 for a District Capital Fund for permanent projects in the community that provide widespread community benefit. For the last five years community members just like you have proposed projects, made recommendations on how to spend this money, and voted on who should be funded.
All residents of District 7 – including children – are invited to come and help choose projects that will help build a stronger community! We are practicing a different way to make decisions about how to spend public money in our neighbourhood.

Point Pleasant Park Lower Parking Lot renovations
I mentioned in a past enewsletter that the Lower Parking Lot at Point Pleasant would be updated this year, to bring it more in line with the feel and finish of the Upper Parking lot. Some people emailed me and asked if I had a good rendering of the plan, which I do now, and have included as the image at the head of this newsletter and also download the full pdf here. Very excited to see this starting!

I’m on the Common! The municipality is planning for the future direction of the Halifax Common. How might the Common best serve the needs of people who live in the Halifax region? Share what you cherish about the public spaces on the Halifax Common and what you would like to see change. Join us at the second public meeting on Jan. 31 at the Spatz Theatre Atrium (entrance from 1855 Trollope St.) We will also be inviting input on improvements to the outdoor pool and aquatics area. Flea Market

There will be a flea market on Saturday April 28th from 10am to 12pm at the Cathedral of All Saints in The Great Hall, Anglican Diocesan Centre. Entry is $2.00 which includes coffee and a cookie. All proceeds will be going to support the Cathedral of All Saint’s Music Program and refugee families.
ECMA 30th Anniversary: Kick Off Waterfront Concert

Walk for Alzheimer’s

Walk for Alzheimer’s is a fundraising event for the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. By supporting this event, you can help make an impact on the quality of the 17,000 Nova Scotians who are facing Alzheimer’s. The walk will be a 5km walk along the waterfront, beginning at the Cunard Centre and ending at Casino Nova Scotia. Registration begins at 12:30pm with the walk starting at 2:00pm. HRM’s call centre is open 7 days/week from 7 am to 11 pm to respond to routine inquiries and complaints from HRM residents.
