Was downtown and got to walk around between meetin Was downtown and got to walk around between meetings and snapped some pics of some heritage hits and misses. More hits than misses right now! Best project remains the Green Lantern renovation! Glass is in and stone column details have been exposed, amazing to see those after 40-50-60 years covered. First photo shows the building, next is a close up on the columns. Third pic is the Zellers/Discovery Centre/Misty Moon redevelopment. While I was skeptical when Council allowed it to be torn down in 2004, it is great to see the saved sandstone facade from that building going up to clad the new one. Forth is the restored wall in front of St David’s at Pizza Corner, and the long awaited return of the steps! Fifth is a qualified win - the long awaited Tramway building renovation is underway, but it is too bad that the facade was in such bad condition it had to happen now, impacting Obladee. Iti is good to see this building finally get the love it needs. Sixth photo is an unmitigated miss. The hole on Blowers where the old Utility/Proskates/Greenbean building used to be is heartbreaking. I think the Ramias made a real mistake when they tore it down. The facade has been a part of that street for 125+ years and they should have saved it to incorporate into their new building. I am just so disappointed. This building makes the case for why the Province needs to strengthen heritage rules!
