Students in high-density, low-income areas have lower scores on standardized tests

Students at inner-city schools are struggling with mathematics compared to their peers, Grade 9 assessment results show.

The Daily News recently obtained school-by-school results of this year’s Grade 9 math assessment from the Halifax Regional School Board. The assessment rated students’ performance in three categories of mathematical competence, and ranked their results on a scale ranging from low to proficient, to excellent.
