It’s been almost a month since the campaign started! Despite being slowed down by the cold that is cutting a swath through Halifax, I’ve continued to get out to meetings, knock on doors, conduct media interviews, and spread the word about my campaign.
Some highlights of the last two weeks include an article about the campaign that appeared in the SMU Journal and an appearance on Maritime Morning weekend edition to talk about the St Pats/Alexandra School. I also attended both the HRMpolitweetup at Boneheads (one of my favorite spots, hands down) and the RP+5 launch.
RP+5 is the review and update of HRM’s five year old regional development plan. The focus of the launch was a presentation on Toronto’s Avenues strategy, which is a plan for medium density development along designated transit corridors. I found the presentation exciting as it showed a sensible way to promote quality development in the districts outside of downtown. RP+5 going to be important to HRM and especially to those of us living in the urban core, this process is one to watch and participate in!
Aside from all that, the focus now is on meeting as many people as possible, which means knocking on doors in the evenings and on weekends. If you’d like to arrange for a meeting, let me know, I’d love to hear from you. The response has been tremendous and positive so far, and I look forward to meeting more of you soon!
