Residents are urged to stay informed by following regular news outlets, visiting the Halifax Snow Event website, and following @hfxgov on twitter.

If you see something that requires municipal response, please call 311, rather than call, email, or tweet me or the council office!  We just turn around and call 311 on your behalf, slowing down response.  Always call 311 first!

Update from HRM at 7:30 am:

Actual snowfall was less than forecasted amounts overnight. Snowfall varies from 8-12cms depending on elevation and proximity to the ocean.

All P1 roads are plowed with slush and slippery sections. Crews are maintaining the 3 hour cycles times.

50% of the P2 roads have received a cut through and work continues on this. Clean up on P2’s will begins once snow has mostly stopped (forecasted around noon)

Sidewalk clearing operations started early this morning and work is on going.

Overnight parking ban is in effect until further notice.

From HRM Snow Ops:

Forecast has snow starting at 1am tonight with up to 25-30cms before ending Sunday afternoon. Heaviest snowfall will be between 3am and 11am.

Municipal Operations will begin at 10pm tonight with anti icing measures until snow begins and ramp up with resources as conditions deteroriate.

The overnight winter parking ban will be in effect until further notice. Residents are also reminded that under Sec 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act vehicles interfering with snow clearing operations can be ticketed and or towed at any time. Residents should secure off street parking.
