HRM Budget 2013/14 now online

UPDATE: the HRM budget was passed April 30.  The passed version is online now.

The proposed HRM operating and project (capital) budgets for 2013/14 are now online.  A change book showing the last two years expenses (line by line) and proposed budget for this year is also online.

On the whole, I am satisfied. There are things I would like to see done differently of course, but that is the way it goes.  The process of 17 people talking through a budget like this means that compromises occur, that you give a little to get a little.  This budget delivers a great foundation from which to make big plans for future years, in transit, Cogswell,  downtown, libraries, parks, and many more areas.

I urge citizens to have a look and let me know what you think.  Email me at with your thoughts, or comment below.  Each and every one of you has specific interests and knowledge that can be useful in dissecting and responding to the budget document.
